Festo

The mission of the FESTO (LSEN Eisteddfod) is to promote South African art in its fullest expression across the country. This encompasses both creative and performing art forms. For LSEN learners, the purpose of this initiative is to foster cultural development and to nurture an enduring appreciation for art and culture. Both Afrikaans andl English are utilised as official languages throughout the festival. In 2026 we also introduced African Languages into the FESTO, with Zulu for 2026.
A significant number of our LSEN learners participate in extra-mural activities, particularly within various sporting codes. These learners, in addition to their sports involvement, also take part in the FESTO. However, there remains a large group of learners who do not engage in any sporting activities. For them, the FESTO is their sole platform for participation, and many feel that even if they may not excel in other areas, this event offers them a space where they can contribute fully and confidently.
Our learners devote many hours to rehearsing and consistently give their best efforts. Above all, they derive immense joy from participating in the FESTO.
